About Me

I am a designer and visual artist with experience in web design, instructional design, graphic design, and video production.

Design Chops

I can help you or your organization bring your design goals to life through every step of the process: strategy, research, mood boards, site maps, wireframes, prototyping, and visual mockups.

I believe in a user-centric process and in the values of design thinking. I can help you find the intersection point of your users’ needs and your organization’s goals and structure your website, app, or user experience around what provides the best outcomes for everyone.

Multi-Disciplinary

The value of so-called T-shaped people has been prized in the design world for their importance in building interdisciplinary teams and in their ability to be agile and wear many hats.

In addition to my certificate in UI/UX design from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), I have a bachelor’s degree from UCLA, with effectively a minor in film, a certificate in user research and brand strategy from Miami Ad School, and years of experience both in freelance video production and in course design and instruction for a boutique training firm.

This provides me with a lot of “extras” I can bring to your design projects. I understand how branding, marketing, and design should coexist symbiotically. I understand the power of using stories to illuminate user needs as part of both the research and design process. I don’t approach onboarding users to a new interface, tool-set, or web presence as an afterthought, I can call on my years as an instructor and course designer to create with those processes in mind.

Self Taught

Hidden behind my certificates and college degree is an additional wealth of knowledge gleaned from years of self-directed study of all the fields mentioned above (design and design thinking, user and consumer research, branding and advertising, filmmaking and visual storytelling, learning and development) as well as others like behavioral economics, management and leadership, startup culture, and much more. I keep a log of the relevant books and documentaries I’ve studied here.
